BLUE ECONOMY YOUTH INTERNATIONAL
Driving Youth-Led Solutions for the Conservation of Land and Water Ecosystems

We educate and raise awareness on the conservation and sustainable use of marine and freshwater resources by sharing best practices with coastal and lakeside communities.

We engage young people and local communities in climate change awareness and resilience-building activities, helping them reduce environmental impacts and adapt to changing ecosystems.

We engage youth in environmental policy dialogues, climate action campaigns, and sustainable development initiatives at the community, national, and global levels.
Blue Economy Youth International (BEYI) is a youth-led, global non-governmental organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in May 2019, BEYI was established to unlock opportunities for youth in the emerging blue economy and beyond, while promoting environmental conservation, climate action, and sustainable development.
Our work spans advocacy, innovation, capacity building, and community empowerment, with a strong focus on sustainability across both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
We believe that young people are not only beneficiaries but also drivers of solutions to today’s environmental and socio-economic challenges.

At BEYI, we are deeply concerned about the growing threat of plastic pollution, especially how waste generated on land finds its way into rivers, lakes, and oceans.
This not only endangers aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity but also affects the livelihoods and food security of communities that depend on these water bodies.
We recognize that tackling plastic pollution requires action at the source through community education, sustainable waste management practices, and policy advocacy to reduce plastic use and improve recycling. Our commitment is to drive awareness and solutions that prevent land-based plastic from reaching and harming our precious water ecosystems.

To be a world-class, youth-centered organization championing the sustainable utilization and conservation of land and blue economy resources.
To optimize youth participation in blue economy activities by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and conservation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
